Chapter 3 (Tutorial) of the Getting Started Manual
Pop-up Lists
Pop-up lists are not automatically displayed if a field already has data in it. Some areas of the tutorial indicate that a pop-up list will appear. This will not happen if the field already has data.
Edit List Option in Post Transactions window
The Edit List option in the Post Transactions window defaults to being selected. The posting procedure in the tutorial indicates that you need to select the Edit List option by clicking the check box next to Edit List. This is no longer necessary since the Edit List option is already selected.
Dates
Before starting this tutorial, please change your system clock date to 11/30/90. This will allow you to print reports for the tutorial data. You should also use the dates indicated in the Tutorial to make sure the data is consistent.
Important: Make sure the system clock date has been reset to the correct date when you have finished using the demo data.

If another person in your company has already used the Demo Data file, you can obtain another copy of the Demo Data by inserting the original program disk in your disk drive and double clicking on the Demo Data Installer icon. You can then create a new copy of the demo data by specifying the folder where you wish to install the Demo Data file.

When entering the credit for Mr. Flemming's security deposit, please enter 11/20/90 as the Date of the Credit transaction. You will also need to zero out all charges except the first charge for $600 in the bottom half of the window before the program will accept the transaction.
When transferring Mr. Flemming's security deposit from the Security Deposit Account to the Operating Account, please enter 11/20/90 as the Date of the General Journal entry
The amount of Mr. Flemming's final check is $705 (not $70). When you enter the receipt for this check, enter 705 as the amount and zero-out the first 600 charge for rent in the bottom portion of the window.

The Bank Reconciliation window allows you to enter the ending balance from your bank statement and to display items listed in the Reconciliation Adjustments window in date or check number order.
The Reconciliation Adjustments window shows various totals at the bottom of the window that help you reconcile your bank statement. These totals show the REMS Property Manager Balance for the bank account number you specified on the Bank Reconciliation window, Less Uncleared Items (this balance changes whenever you clear or unclear an item), and the Adjusted REMS Property Manager Balance. When this balance is equal to the Bank Statement Balance you entered on the previous window, you know your bank statement agrees with REMS Property Manager and your reconciliation is complete.
To mark items that have cleared your bank, you may double-click on the appropriate line in the list box or you may press the Return key. The status of the line will change from “No” to “Yes” and the selection automatically advances to the next line.
When you have finished reconciling your bank statement, you may accept the changes you have made, accept the changes and print a listing of all uncleared transactions, or you may cancel the changes you have made.

The option to List Only Accounts With Dollar Amounts should be replaced with the following options:
Consolidated Report
This option will produce a single consolidated report for all properties in the current data file. This option is only available for the Trial Balance and General Ledger reports.
Detailed Reports
This option creates a report showing each transaction entered in the system, otherwise, the report shows a single transaction from each sub-journal for each property for each day. This option is only available for the General Ledger report.
